My Influences
Thought I'd write a little about my influences, partly so
you'll know who I admire and partly as a way of paying tribute
to them because I think they deserve it!
ZONE - My fav band and a huge influence on me recently. For
those who don't know, they're an all girl band from Japan
(though disbanded now). I love all their music, I just
find it so uplifting. Fav Song: Sekai no honnno
Katasumi kara
Miyu Nagase - Former member of ZONE, now recently begun a
solo career. She's got the most amazing voice I have ever
heard and she's a fantastic dancer too. Would love to see
her play live! Fav Song: Just 4 Your Luv
David Bowie - I find his music amazing, especially his
lyrics. It was the Ziggy stuff I noticed first, (although
I'd loved the Labyrinth songs as a kid) but I enjoy his music
from all periods. Fav Song: Strangers When We Meet
George Harrison - Some of George's melodies are just
beautiful and so deep. Loved his songs in The Beatles like
'Here Comes The Sun' and 'Within You,Without You'. Fav
Song: Run Of The Mill
Paul McCartney/Wings - I admire Paul's work from The Beatles
to the present day and he was my main influence to learn the
bass guitar. Fav Song: Beautiful Night/Girl's School
Cliff Richard - One of the first artists I heard as a kid
(thanks to my Mum!). I saw his The Event concert on TV and
to this day it is one of my all time favourite concerts.
In that concert Cliff played a white Stratocaster on Move It
which I liked so much I thought I had to get one myself!
Fav Song: The Best Of Me
John Lennon - I really love the honesty and emotion of
Lennon's songs. Admire what he did to promote peace too.
Fav Song: God
Julian Lennon - When I was trying to start a band at school,
Julian was a huge influence. One of the songs we covered
was 'Saltwater', a great song. Fav Song: Help Yourself
The Beatles - You may have already spotted a Beatle
influence, I tend to prefer their solo music but it was the
Beatles that got me into songwriting. Fav Song: The Long &
Winding Road
